Call for participation
Researchers, students, and practitioners at the intersection of extended reality and robotics: please join us for the first ISMAR workshop on Extended Reality for Human-Robot Interaction.
Interaction and collaboration in human-robot teams requires exchanging complex spatiotemporal information between teleoperated or (semi-)autonomous systems and their human counterparts. XR in its various forms is one of the most promising technologies for communicating such information effectively and efficiently. A growing number of researchers in the XR and HRI communities are looking into this topic, and we want to bring them together.
We value in-person discussion, but intercontinental travel can be difficult for some, so the workshop runs in a hybrid format. We strongly encourage everyone who can to join us in Bari.
Two tracks
Publication track
4–6 pages including references, single-blind review. For state-of-the-art results and current advances at the intersection of XR and HRI. Accepted papers are published in the IEEE ISMAR proceedings.
Non-archival discussion track
2–4 pages including references, single-blind review. For novel or unconventional ideas, work in progress, and projects on which you want advice or feedback. Accepted papers are not published in the proceedings.
In both tracks, authors give a talk of about four minutes and bring a poster to spark discussion. The exact talk length depends on the number of accepted papers.

How to submit
- Use the VGTC conference style.
- Submit through OpenReview.
- At least one author of each accepted paper attends the workshop, in person or remotely.
- Authors comply with the ISMAR and IEEE codes of conduct and the ISMAR policies on ethics, generative AI, and previously published work.
